Donald has been a writer and performance artist since he was a child. Throughout his professional career he has pursued a relentless objective to enhance music, theater, and film. He has been utilizing his perceptual and conceptual skills to entertain and create art for over thirty-five years.
Donald has worked for Martin Scorcese, Jonathan Demme, ABC, NBC, CBS, MTV, Industrial Light and Magic, Warner Brothers, the BBC and hundreds of other well known local, national and international production companies and direct
In addition, he worked with the National Endowment of the Arts and in co-operation with Philadelphia’s Creative and Performing Arts High School. Here he wrote and directed shows that were performed at the Philadelphia Civic Center.
In the late eighties Donald McKenna started scouting locations and casting people for film and video. In the past 15 years Donald has scouted for a countless number of feature films, TV shows, commercials and still shoots. Donald has done real people casting for TV pilots and series and commercials.
During the mid nineties Donald continued teaching acting in addition to continuing production work, teaching at “Wickline Casting”, forming the elite bi-coastal professional actors’ workshop “Off the Page”, and directing performances at “Hedgerow Theater” and ” The Schubin Theater”
Presently, Donald is spending a great deal his time working with actors one on one. Agents and managers often send actors to him with sides to prepare for (and sometimes tape) auditions. After getting the part he works with the actors on developing the characters. He also works with beginning actors, helping them acquire the tools and skills needed to get started in the business. His students range in age from four to eighty four years old.
